The Constitution and Statutory Code are in place to provide a framework for our organization. Each chapter and colony are encouraged to reference this document as necessary to guide operations and effective decision making. The following policies originated and were adopted as an action by the Lambda Chi Alpha General Assembly. Resolutions are regularly adopted at General Assemblies to set forth matters of Fraternity policy that are not covered by the Constitution or the Statutory Code. These Resolutions can be either Mandatory or non-Mandatory. Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution provides that Mandatory Resolutions are the Law of the Fraternity and carry equal weight with the Constitution and the Statutory Code. Undergraduates, making up two-thirds of the General Assembly, sponsored and made these policies the law of the Fraternity. Today, undergraduate and alumni brothers use these policies as guidelines for appropriate and responsible behavior.
Lambda Chi Alpha is a member organization of FIPG, Fraternal Information and Programming Group, along with nearly 50 other national and international fraternity and sorority organizations. As a member organization, Lambda Chi Alpha has adopted the FIPG Risk Management Policies that were established early on in the history of FIPG.
Each campus, whether set by the college or university, or the governing Greek body (IFC, Greek Council), has a series of policies that apply to Lambda Chi Alpha. Each brother and each chapter has a duty to comply with those policies, FIPG policies, and Lambda Chi Alpha policies.
Obligations of Membership
Each Member of Lambda Chi Alpha (initiated, non-initiated and alumnus) agrees to comply at all times with all Laws of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, including without limitation the Constitution, the Statutory Code, Policy Resolutions, and Orders of the Grand High Zeta.
A summary of the obligations of membership can be found here.
What is personal information?
The term “Personal Information” refers to any information that can be used to identify you as an individual. It can include, among other things, your name, address, age, and gender.
How is personal information collected?
1) Initially upon contact with our website
When you visit our website, you are initially given a “cookie”, and your computer is assigned an ID number. A cookie is a commonly used device that tracks an individual user’s preferences, and is capable of enhancing your visit to the site. Cookies allow us to provide a customized experience without the visitor having to remind us of his or her preferences each time she or he visits our site. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information. Lambda Chi Alpha cookies also do not follow visitors when traveling on the internet after leaving the Lambda Chi Alpha website.
Once you have visited our website and accepted our cookie, your ID number is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you visit our website. Despite the fact that you remain anonymous until you enter personal information in the website, the ID number allows us to log your session, so that we may better assist you should you need some individualized service or support. Once you enter personal information on the website, we associate your ID number with your contact information so we can recognize you on a future visit. We also use it to keep track of information that appears to be of particular interest to you.
2) While browsing our website
In the process of browsing our website, you also provide us with information that does not reveal your personal identity — information about our of membership, for example. We use this aggregated, anonymous data mainly for editorial purposes but we do not connect it to any Personal Information, such as your name or address.
While you explore our website for the information that interests you, you may wish to put in a specific “Contact Us,” or you may wish to participate in one of our online surveys. To respond to this request or to participate in our various programs, we may ask you for Personal Information, such as your name, zip/postal code, e-mail address, and phone number.
If you wish, you may also submit your email address in order to be placed on a subscription list or to receive other information. You will be placed on these lists only when you indicate your desire to be included. In deciding whether or not to join such lists, please note that they are only used for internal purposes — we do not sell or rent our lists to anyone — except for our periodic sharing with our approved Greek-licensed vendors for our undergraduate brothers. In the event you choose to join one of our lists, you may ask to be removed from the list at any time. You also may let us know, at any time, that you want to opt of our sharing of your information with our Greek-licensed vendors. Visitors will always have the ability to accept or decline any form of communication from Lambda Chi Alpha.
