2017 Jerre & Mary Joy Stead Leadership Seminar: FAQs

The Stead Leadership Seminar is held annually in the summer, either in conjunction with the General Assembly or alone. During General Assembly years, non-delegates participate in the Leadership Seminar programming that is held concurrently. During odd-numbered years, the Leadership Seminar is typically held on a college campus in the Midwest.

The three-day program offers workshops, presentations, and other educational sessions covering the full range of chapter programming and personal leadership development. The seminar’s program also consists of brotherhood activities, chapter award presentations, and the Initiation Ritual exemplification.

The Stead Leadership Seminar is named in honor of Jerre and Mary Joy Stead. Jerre Stead was initiated as a brother of Lambda Chi Alpha in January, 1962 at Coe College. He transferred to the University of Iowa and graduated from there in 1965. Jerre is a FAITHFUL STEWARD of our Fraternity, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation since 1998, six of those years as Chairman of the Board.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Each Stead Leadership Seminar will give brothers memories and experiences that will suit them well in life. Additionally, the curriculum that the General Fraternity offers helps brothers be better officers, members in Lambda Chi Alpha and lifetime alumni. A preliminary schedule of events is listed in the agenda section. Keep in mind that this is subject to change and we will try to keep it updated as much as possible.
