Arkansas State chapter raises over $5,000 for veteran’s service dog
Thanks to the Iota-Theta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha at Arkansas State University, army veteran David Hudson will receive his very own service dog.
Made possible through Retrieving Freedom, Inc., an organization that provides trained service dogs to veterans at no cost, brother Landen Crancer set in motion a partnership that would contribute to ensuring Hudson and his dog Macie would be paired together.
With their “Red, White, and Blue BBQ,” the chapter organized teams and sponsors for the event and after overwhelming support, were able to raise over $5,000 for Hudson’s service dog.
“This money will help to offset the rest of the cost for the service dog, as they are usually around $25,000 due to the extensive amount of training to help the dog assist to its owner’s needs,” said High Theta Robert Morris.
“As this event was my first hands-on experience as High Theta for the Iota-Theta chapter at Arkansas State University,” Morris added. “I cannot overstate how rewarding it has been to see the community come together to help one of our own who has sacrificed so much for our country. The attention this event has gotten has been astounding to watch, but in the end, it is truly just an honor to help provide Macie, the service dog, to Mr. David Hudson. We are looking forward to seeing Macie graduate in October, and we are incredibly excited to hear about how much she will improve Mr. Hudson’s life.”
