HeadshotHaving took the initiative to create a business after graduating university, David Taylor is a prime example of a brother taking life by the horns and making an impact. His company Mobius Nutrition aims to improve the health, energy and focus of anyone and everyone trying to make a positive impact on the world. Utilizing the leadership skills he learned whilst living in the alpha delta zeta chapter house, Taylor is effectively leading and growing his company.

“I attended Missouri University of Science and Technology from 2008 to 2013 where I earned a degree in chemical engineering. I joined Lambda Chi Alpha during my first semester and am very grateful that I did. During my time at MS&T I worked for four different companies in internships and co-ops which helped me gain practical work experience. I also became very interested in health and fitness in school and even organized a workout group for the fraternity. After graduating I joined an engineering consulting firm in my hometown in Dallas and married my high school sweetheart, Megan. I decided soon after beginning my full time job that I wanted to start a company that would help people lead healthy lives. I recruited the help of my fraternity brother, Michael Eichenseer, and my wife and we started Mobius Nutrition. After spending two years testing out various ideas, we decided on our current product, Mobius Breakfast. We launched a crowd funding campaign in November of 2015 to raise the initial funds and then launched our e-commerce platform this past February. The three of us are growing Mobius Nutrition into a resource where people can learn about health for the mind and the body, enabling them to live the optimal lifestyle.

Attending Missouri University of Science and Technology was a great learning experience for me in many ways. My rigorous classwork helped me develop critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills. These skills helped me immensely after school as I started my full time employment as a chemical engineer in the food and beverage industry. I am very grateful for everything I learned while at the university; however,  I would not have been a good engineer nor would I have ventured into entrepreneurship without the skills that I learned during my time at Lambda Chi Alpha, Alpha-Delta Zeta. Being in a situation where I had to interact with many people every day allowed me to learn and hone interpersonal and communication skills. Through these situations my confidence grew along with my leadership skills and understanding of how to approach conflict.

I discovered the world of entrepreneurship about three months after I started my full time career. I know that I would not have had the courage to even begin down this path if it hadn’t been for the confidence that I gained while at Alpha-Delta Zeta. The skills that I learned at Lambda Chi have been essential to starting our company, Mobius Nutrition. There have been many challenges that I have faced while growing this business; however, the skills that I learned in the fraternity primed me for what I am doing today. The skill I am most grateful for is the ability to communicate with others. This is a crucial skill for anyone who wants to achieve success in their life and the Lambda Chi Alpha environment is the perfect incubator for this.

In the next 30 years I will be growing Mobius Nutrition into a leader in natural nutrition while helping people achieve optimal performance in their daily lives by improving their lifestyle. I will also be working on ways to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in Lambda Chi Alpha chapters so that others can learn from my experience.’

In ZAX,

David Taylor
