Members of Edinboro University’s Lambda Chi Alpha delivered 185 pounds of food and a check for $3,037.09 to the Edinboro Food Pantry on Nov. 10.

The members of Lambda Chi Alpha spent a recent cold and rainy weekend to collect food and raise money. Tyler Picotte, president-elect of the Edinboro Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, reported the fraternity raised the money to support food pantry activities.

“The food pantry buys food from Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania for approximately 11 cents a pound. Based on this price, the fraternity’s cash donation will allow the food pantry to purchase about 27,600 pounds of food,” said Mary Weber, Edinboro Food Pantry’s coordinator. The Edinboro Food Pantry receives large shipments of food from Second Harvest Food Bank on three Fridays of each month. These shipments average between 4,000 and 8,000 pounds each.

“It is easy to see how far this valuable donation will go toward purchasing large amounts of food for our needy clients,” Weber said. “We are very grateful for their significant donation.” (Via The Meadville Tribune)
