High Alpha Summit Day Two Includes Service Trip to Gleaners Food Bank
Highlights from day two of the High Alpha Summit included a service trip offsite to volunteer at Gleaners Food Bank.
A large group of chapter executives and International Headquarters staff helped sort and load more than 18,000 pounds of food for 15,642 Central Indiana residents in need.
The men spent four hours of their day braving the cold inside a 300,000 square-foot warehouse.
“I thought it was a really cool opportunity for us to bond while helping others,” said Matt Sullivan from Washington State University. “I think it really helped out the community we’re in and we did a lot of work that actually meant something.”
Brother Owen Trube from Ferris State University in Michigan appreciated the experience, too.
“I really enjoyed the fact that we had everybody there and how efficiently it ran,” Trube said.
Both members were looking forward to taking the organizational tips they’re learning during the conference back to their chapter, especially the ones related to LCA One.
“A lot of our members don’t know about LCA One or the things that it can offer,” Sullivan said. “So they’ll go to our officers and ask them something they could have just gotten on LCA One.”
Overall, they’ve enjoyed their experience so far.
“It’s great to get all of the High Alphas together in one place so we can gain some of the knowledge that IHQ has to share with us,” Sullivan said.
“It’s really been nice conversing with everybody because it reminds you that what you deal with day to day, you’re not alone,” Trube added. “It’s great reference for me to lead my chapter.”
