The associate director of communications and editor of the Cross & Crescent online magazine serves as one of two lieutenants for the director of communications and information technology to ensure content generation and a consistent delivery of first-class marketing communications in a variety of mediums to various audiences. The associate director assists both Fraternity and Educational Foundation staff with maintaining a high-level of quality communications and integrity, both printed and online. Additionally, the associate director will be asked to perform other duties and tasks as necessary to advance the Fraternity’s mission, which entails a willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule.


  • Serve as editor of the Cross & Crescent website and online magazine
    • Manage deadlines, content, and volunteers
    • Generate daily content to cc.lambdachi.org
    • Work with outside vendor to compile and layout quarterly PDF version of the magazine
    • Be a strong and creative storyteller
    • Identify noteworthy and high-profile alumni members for possible inclusion in the magazines
  • Add new elements/multimedia content to lambdachi.org and cc.lambdachi.org
    • Produce video for web
    • Make updates to website
    • Assist with re-write of website content
    • Evolve/enhance site map and experience for visitors
  • Contribute to/updates to Fraternity’s social sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Help plan and implement social marketing campaigns for specific marketing goals
  • Keep up-to-date with best practices in writing for the web, social media trends, web usability, web design, and business/industry trends
  • Prepare internal and external communications including marketing collateral, speeches and news releases

Required Skills and Behaviors

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Discretion to identify obstacles and opportunities in user generated content
  • Eager to meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
  • Brings outstanding organizational skills and can handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Experience with social networks and implementation of social media marketing
  • Self-motivated, driven, with a can-do, problem solving attitude
  • Passionate about story telling
  • Passion for communications and related technology
  • Ability to work in collaborative group environment
  • Proactive, self-starter, good work ethic
  • Basic graphic design skills, with a willingness to learn more
  • Work well in an independent environment with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of how to adhere to branding and style guide


  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut and WordPress
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications with journalism emphasis
  • Related work experience, 1-2 years preferred
  • Entry-level position with some supervisor responsibilities
