Neville Advisor’s College Kicks Off Thursday

Lambda Chi Alpha’s premier training for chapter advisors, house corporation officers and alumni association leaders begins today at The Alexander in downtown Indianapolis.

A $60,000 grant from the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation helps fund the Neville Advisor’s College, an annual three-day conference.

The College is completely free of charge — travel included. More than 400 alumni volunteers have benefited from Neville since 2014. This year, 77 more advisors from the United States and Canada will benefit from the experience.

They will hear from a variety of speakers including: Dr. Carrie Whittier; Dr. Rodney Roosevelt; Marc Mores; Tony Quandt; General Counsel Lynn Chipperfield; and Dr. Lou Profeta, an emergency room doctor who will explain the medical realities of students being brought to the E.R. after a night of partying. Attendees will also tour International Headquarters Friday.

“Our advisors attending this year’s Neville will grapple with tough questions about Lambda Chi Alpha and the state of the Greek world, including the role that alcohol plays in the Greek world and how advisors can address these growing threats at their chapters,” said Jayme Little, Lambda Chi’s director of alumni engagement.

“They will also learn more about Generation Z, the newest students to arrive on our campuses and how to adjust advising styles to support chapter leaders,” he continued.

Registration kicked off at 11:30 a.m. The welcome reception is scheduled for 5:45 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m.

“In addition to a robust curriculum, advisors will get to know each other, strengthening their network of support across North America,” Little said.
