On June 30, 2019, Bill Farkas (Butler 1988) will retire from his position as chief executive officer of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

During his time as CEO, Farkas championed new and innovative educational programming for undergraduate members and helped bring hundreds of alumni members back into the volunteer pool to assist chapters. He also established a national partnership with Feeding America in 2013 that has led to more than 25 million meals provided by Lambda Chi chapters across North America. In addition, he assisted the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation with two successful capital campaigns that will provide ongoing resources for our chapters and undergraduate members for many years to come.

“Brother Farkas has served Lambda Chi Alpha well,” said Board Chairman Jeff Stuerman (Culver-Stockton 1982). “On behalf of our Board and members, I would like to thank Bill for his vision, commitment and leadership over the last decade. Bill leaves a very solid foundation for Lambda Chi Alpha to launch bold and transformative programming that will serve more brothers and their communities.”

Farkas’ leadership has secured Lambda Chi Alpha’s ability to begin a new era of service and relevance.

“The timing is right for a new CEO to lead our fraternity,” Farkas said. “I’m grateful to the Board and our members for allowing me this opportunity. I’m excited to finish my tenure working with the Board and staff on the creation of a new strategic plan that I believe will again demonstrate Lambda Chi Alpha as the true leader and innovator in the men’s fraternal movement for many years to come.”

Farkas also complimented his staff as a key reason for his success as CEO: “As I have repeatedly said over the years, our International Headquarters staff is the finest in the Greek world. I want to thank them for their support, hard work, and dedication to our brotherhood.”

The next CEO will become only the sixth in Lambda Chi Alpha’s 110-year history.

“Over the coming months, we will celebrate Bill’s many accomplishments and honor his dedication to our bond,” Stuerman said. “In the meantime, the Board is committed to finding Lambda Chi Alpha’s next dynamic leader while ensuring a smooth transition.”

Stuerman will provide additional details about the CEO search process and timeline in the coming weeks. Updates will be made available on Lambda Chi Alpha’s website.
