Brothers Attend Stead Leadership Seminars with Assistance From Chapter Funds
Lambda Chi Alpha kicks off three Stead Leadership Seminars on Thursday, July 27, with Stead Central at Vanderbilt University. Over the next three weeks, more than 600 undergraduates will attend the three regional seminars at Vanderbilt University, the University of Maryland and the University of California-Los Angeles.
Of those attendees, more than 50 undergraduate brothers are attending through fully-funded scholarships because of chapter funds administered by the Educational Foundation. Chapter funds are providing more than $27,000 in scholarships and help fund both the cost of registration and travel.
“Through chapter funds, there are opportunities available that I would not be able to take advantage of otherwise,” said Matthew Kraus, High Iota at Alpha-Pi Zeta (Denver). “Chapter funds ensure that students in need can make the most of their fraternity experience.”
The Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation allows individual chapters to establish a fund where alumni, friends, and even parents of current members can support a specific Zeta. This serves as a great way to help advance your own chapter, while also supporting the overall mission of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Griffin Burke, of Phi-Theta Zeta (North Carolina-Greensboro), is excited to interact with brothers from across the country when he attends Stead East at the University of Maryland. Burke is attending on a scholarship as a result of a chapter fund.
“I am excited to learn from the advice and lessons that we will be able to teach each other,” said Burke. “The leadership seminar is a great opportunity for brothers to interact and show what perfect, brotherly love is.”
Chapter funds can be designated to support scholarships, leadership, and other educational opportunities. These funds are often used to cover registration fees to programs like the Stead Leadership Seminar or the High Alpha Summit. They can also be used to fund direct scholarships for members, both for merit and financial need. These funds are endowed within the educational foundation and are permanently invested so the fund will grow over time.
“I hope that attending Stead Central will give me strategies to help inspire other members to be leaders as well,” said Stephen Bennet, High Alpha at Lambda-Eta Zeta (Murray State).
An individual, alumni association or any group of members interested in securing the future of their Zeta can start a chapter fund.
