Ideal Man: Building Capability from Day One

SHARE TO

Ideal Man is a program built with a simple mission: to build competency, confidence and belonging among our Brothers. The first journey is Developing Myself. An introduction to what it means to be a Lambda Chi, it explores our values from theory to application, offers tools to overcome adversity and challenges, and sets the foundations for building relationships. Blending self-paced learning with live group sessions, it can be customized by the Chapter to meet their capabilities and the needs of their Associate Members.

The most success comes from a Chapter completing the recommended pathway. This involves Associate Members committing to, weekly, 30 minutes of online learning and activities before attending a live session led by the High Kappa. Running for eight weeks, this allows the Chapter to welcome the new Members into the culture, set expectations, and ensure there is constant engagement and support.

“I got a good overview of what the Core Values of Lambda Chi Alpha are through Ideal Man. I was able to relate my experiences to the material on Lambda Chi Academy easily,” said Elija Hogan, Associate Member

It isn’t, however, just for Associate Members. Ideal Man offers learning for all Members as they progress from initiation and forward through their college experience. The Ideal Man program works in tandem with learning in their collegiate studies, teaching them personal development through interaction with their Brothers in Kappa live sessions.

Ideal Man- Developing My Relationships is the next step on the Ideal Man journey. Launched in January 2024, it explores the importance of lifelong, healthy relationships, the role of personality and its effect on others, and why as a Brother it is important get comfortable with holding challenging conversations.

Developing My Relationships has been met with success and positive opinions. Brothers further along in their membership can learn about the basics of different positions on the High Zeta. Developing My Relationships also takes a close look at how to be a team player, using existing skills to reinforce the strength of the Brotherhood.

“I knew about the High Zeta from being High Gamma before, but I learned a lot about the other responsibilities of each officer from Developing My Relationships,” said Harrison Aberle, Brother from Eastern Kentucky University. “It helped me gain a lot of respect for the time management skills my Brothers have.”
