The following are the submissions received for the August 2016.

If you can not find news from your chapter, then no information has been submitted for this month.

Angelo State (Beta-Alpha)

At 10 a.m. on September 24, the chapter will host a 50th anniversary celebration on the patio of the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center. At the celebration will include recognition and remembrance of the members of Kappa Xi, which then became a Lambda Chi Alpha chapter.  Kappa Xi began in 1966 as the first local fraternity at then San Angelo College and in 1970 the local chapter became an official chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha.

Arkansas State (Iota-Theta)

Arkansas StateChapter members raised more than $5,000 to provide a service dog for a decorated U.S. Army veteran through an organization called Retrieving Freedom Inc. The money raised will help offset the rest of the cost for the service dog. The dog will graduate from training on the same day as the chapter’s 2nd Annual Color Run for the Kids benefiting Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

 

 

 

Butler (Alpha-Alpha)

ButlerButler 2Nine chapter brothers attended the 56th General Assembly & Stead Leadership Seminar at the National Doral Resort in Miami. One of the highlights was meeting Lambda Chi brother and ESPN contributor Woody Paige after he gave the final banquet keynote address. Chapter officers held a weekend retreat that included planning and teambuilding.

 

 

California Polytechnic (Phi-Sigma)

Cal PolyAt the 2016 LEAD awards event, the chapter earned awards for IFC President of the Year and Outstanding Risk Management of the Year.

 

 

 

 

California State – Chico (Phi-Chi)

Cal State ChicoThe chapter earned the highest fraternity GPA on campus for the second consecutive year.

Colorado State – Pueblo (Delta-Omega)

Colorado State - PuebloAt the 20th anniversary celebration, alumni brother Chris Turner was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his volunteer work with the chapter.

 

 

 

 

Cornell (Omicron)

CornellThe chapter’s deck was stained to match the siding on the building and the third floor bathroom  underwent a retrofit of the ventilation system. Phase II of the fundraising campaign to complete the originally planned renovation stands at $420,000 or 76 percent of the goal. Combined with the Phase I funding program, the chapter members have raised nearly $3 million in pledges and private loans making it the largest fraternity funding effort in Cornell history.

 

 

 

Eastern Illinois (Phi-Alpha)

Eastern IllinoisEastern Illinois 2Chapter members participated in a field day for the children of Ashmore, Illinois. Events included

volleyball, kickball, and other outdoor activities designed to teach the children about the importance of staying active and exercising.

 

 

 

Eastern Kentucky (Phi-Beta)

Chapter brothers helped incoming freshmen move into their dorms. 

 

Florida (Epsilon-Mu)

FloridaThroughout this summer chapter brothers completed the following internships: Dylan Schreiner, Target Corp; David Bischoff, Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.; Mark Elliott, Abbey Capital; Joseph Garcia, University of Florida College of Dentistry; Alec Marmo, Novartis International; AG Vintilla, Natural Elements Painting and Repair; and William Sanders, AroundCampus Group. Matt Brown was selected as the 2016 American Legion’s National Firefighter of the year.

Johnson & Wales – Charlotte (Pi-Upsilon)

Johnson _ WalesMany chapter members studied abroad this summer in countries like France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Singapore. Two chapter members attended the 56th General Assembly & Stead Leadership Seminar at the National Doral Resort in Miami.

Kutztown (Sigma-Gamma)

Chapter members attending the 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar met alumni brother and ESPN contributor Woody Paige. On September 10, chapter brothers will be featured in Kutztown University’s 150th Celebration Parade.

 

Maine (Beta)

MaineDonations from generous alumni brothers helped remodel the chapter’s kitchen over the summer. As as result of the renovation, the chapter brothers are now able to make and host dinner together as a brotherhood.

 

 

 

 

Maryland – Baltimore County (Phi-Delta)

MarylandCommunity Service Friday July 8 – Brothers of Phi-Delta Zeta volunteered to help the Catonsville Rotary at the local Frederick Road Friday event. (Picture attached, from left to right, Pablo Guerrero – Colt Miles – Mark Minnis – Mason Tebera). Member Accomplishments – Kyle Jordan: Welcome Week Ambassador, Elected IFC Treasurer, had a summer internship at the District Court in Rockville/Silver Spring this summer, taking the LSAT for law school soon, he is also Beta for the chapter. Nicholas Bucher: UMBC Rotaract President Christopher Hopking: Performed summer medical research at Johns Hopkins University. Brian Koch: Performed summer chemistry research at UMBC. Pablo Guerrero: Summer Cyber intern at Software Security & Systems International. Alumni news: Atib Siddiqui: Became part owner at the company he works, also promoted to business development coordinator at Software Security & Systems International.

 

Miami (OH) (Zeta-Upsilon)

Chapter members moved into their new house on 300 Tallawanda Rd. in Oxford, Ohio. 

Missouri Science and Technology (Alpha-Delta)

Missouri S_TChapter house renovations are underway as planning continues for the 100th anniversary celebration in the fall of 2017. Chapter members volunteered and participated in a local Alzheimer’s Walk. The chapter added 16 new associate members during fall recruitment.

 

 

 

Montevallo (Sigma-Epsilon)

Alumni brothers Kyle Jones and Josh Womack, who work at the International Headquarters, along with Quincy Hall, greeted our attendees when they arrived. Jared Wright, Michael Loman, Blake-Anthony Lovelace and Josh Williams were cast in the Heathers musical with the University of Montevallo Theatre.

 

 

 

Nebraska – Omaha (Iota-Delta)

NebraskaGrant Sturek attended the 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar and served as the chapter’s delegate. 

 

 

 

 

 

New Mexico State (Zeta-Gamma)

New Mexico StateFive chapter members attend the 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar.  At the conference, the chapter won two awards:  the Warren A. Cole Recruitment Award and the McIntosh Award for Chapter Excellence.

The chapter added 35 new associate members during formal recruitment.

 

 

 

North Dakota (Epsilon-Zeta)

North DakotaChapter members completed their annual work week, which included buffing floors, tiling a storage closet, putting more sand on the volleyball court, and a few other projects. Alumni brothers, including Scott Ciochetto, Jim Schnack, Colin Guidinger, and Daryl Evenson, helped with the projects. Chapter brothers also helped move freshmen into their dorms for welcome weekend. 

 

 

 

Ohio (Alpha-Omega)

Jamie Stutz volunteered at the Summer Olympics in Rio.

 

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Epsilon-Eta)

Chapter brother Simon McCarthy received the Erik Johnson Award, which is given to the senior with highest overall academic achievement. He graduated with a 4.0 and and top of his class. Jonathan Gottwald attended the 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar and served as a member of the International Ritual Team. Gottwald also serves as the incoming Student Advisory Committee.  Five chapter members are participating in the Student Orientation program: Jonathan Gottwald, Igor Carvalho, Harrison Eichler, Matthew McCurvin and Charly Blazy.

 

Richmond (Alpha-Chi)

RichmondThe chapter earned its first Grand High Alpha Award at 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar. The award recognizes chapters who have maintained a superior level of operations for the past three years. Six chapter members the conference along with Chapter Advisor Larry Matthews. One of the undergraduate members also participated on the International Ritual Team.

For the spring 2016 semester, the chapter earned the highest GPA of all fraternities on campus.  

 

 

Rhode Island (Eta)

Rhode IslandOn July 22, an alumni brother reunion was held for the classes of 1964 and 1965 was held at at Howard Cook’s home in Westborough Mass. In the photo from left to right are Howard Cook, Paul Summers, Leo Crosby, Barry Lees, Edward Sowa, Norman Shorrock, and Richard Durfee.  Larry Aker also attended but is not in the photo.

 

 

 

Rose-Hulman (Theta-Kappa)

Alumni brothers helped re-shingle the chapter house roof in addition to making other repairs.  

Simpson (Theta-Lambda)

SimpsonThree chapter members attended the 56th General Assembly & Stead Leadership Seminar at the National Doral Resort in Miami. Chapter members helped move first-year students into their dorms, equating to 60 hours of community service.

 

 

 

 

South Carolina (Epsilon-Psi)

During the 56th General Assembly, Epsilon-Psi Zeta was rewarded the Phoenix Award. We would like to thank all of our brothers over the last few years for their endless dedication and hard work to continue to improve our chapter. Also during General Assembly, our High Pi, Jim Tothill, was awarded the Order of Merit. We appreciate all of his work in aiding us in continuing to expand on campus.

Texas Christian (Iota-Pi)

The chapter added 42 new associate members during formal recruitment. 

Wabash (Alpha-Kappa)

Wabash2WabashGenerous donations from alumni brothers helped complete house renovations over the summer. The chapter added 21 associate members during formal recruitment.

 

 

 

 

Wake Forest (Theta-Tau)

Mike Queen (1968) represents Lambda Chi Alpha on the newly-formed Greek Alumni Advisory Board at Wake Forest University. A collaborative effort between Wake Forest’s Office of Alumni Engagement and the Division of Campus Life, the advisory board aims to serve as a bridge between alumni and the University in order to educate alumni about fraternity and sorority life today and to positively influence the student experience.

Western (Delta-Eta)

WesternDuring a summer trip to Europe, chapter brother Kevin Pan met Justin Olshavsky, a Lambda Chi from the Delta-Omicron chapter at Clemson University at the Ultra Europe Music Festival in Split, Croatia.

 

 

 

 

West Virginia (Iota-Lambda Colony)

West VirginiaOn August 20, Calvin Komiske and Eric Lasky spent time West Virginia’s President Gordon Gee and a couple of other fraternities and sororities on campus to talk about Greek life and deferred recruitment, which began this semester. Gee shared stories about his days in a fraternity and how Greek involvement builds men of character and how to build men of vision and success.

 

 

 

William Jewell (Epsilon-Nu)

Carter Quirk held an internship with H&R Block within Franchise Operations this summer. He also traveled to London on a research grant for his senior paper, which discusses United States and United Kingdom involvement with the Berlin Blockade and Airlift. Jonathon Martin accepted an apprenticeship to be an electrician and Jonathan Daniel has been hired by The Ancora Chorale and as a singer for BITE, a contemporary electronic and vocal music project.
