FAQs

What happens to a Chapter Support Fund if the chapter is closed?

If the Chapter is closed, the CSF shall remain open for a maximum period of 7 years, accruing any appreciation and undistributed income in the interim.  If re-colonization of the Chapter does not occur in such time frame, the Fund may be added to the operating fund or endowment of the Foundation, at the discretion of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Can a chapter have more than one Chapter Support Fund?

Of course. An endowed fund is a good idea for any chapter. That will fund scholarships and help members attend leadership seminars forever. If the chapter has a house, a temporarily restricted fund could be a good idea. There’s even a fund type that allows house corporations to fund educational of chapter house operating costs.

What can a Chapter Support Fund support (not an all-inclusive list)?

  1. Academic scholarships
  2. Scholarships for financial aid
  3. Grants for educational equipment (chairs, desks, computers, etc.)
  4. Grants for members to attend leadership training
  5. Grants for construction and renovation of exclusively educational space of a chapter house
  6. Outside speakers fees on harm reduction, leadership, etc.
