On April 30, 2026, Lambda-Lambda Zeta at Western Kentucky University dedicated a new Memorial Garden on the Chapter property. More than 80 attendees gathered for the ceremony, including Alumni, Undergraduate Brothers, and representatives from WKU and Lambda Chi Alpha’s Office of Administration.
The Memorial Garden was made possible through a generous gift from Bill Dost (Western Kentucky, '75), whose vision was to create a space that honors Brothers who have entered Omega while providing a place for reflection, remembrance, and fellowship. Over several months, Alumni and Undergraduate Brothers contributed to the project’s planning and construction. Graf Construction, owned by Brother Lee Ross Dinwiddie (Western Kentucky, '09), handled the design work and led much of the construction effort.
Designed as a stylized representation of the Lambda Chi Alpha badge, the garden incorporates the crescent, pearls, and Delta Pi surrounding a central flagpole. Two stone seat walls create a welcoming space for gathering and reflection. One engraved end stone features the Greek letter Lambda alongside “1965,” commemorating the year the Chapter was chartered. Another bears the inscription “Dost” in recognition of Brother Dost’s generosity and lasting impact on the Chapter.
White rose bushes surround the memorial space, while accent lighting illuminates the garden at night. A paver walkway connects the garden to the sidewalk leading to the Chapter house’s Alumni Door entrance, where the Chapter’s Greek letters are stamped into the concrete.
Brother Dost attended the dedication and shared reflections on the project, along with memories of how Lambda Chi Alpha shaped his experience at Western Kentucky University and influenced his life after graduation.
The ceremony concluded with a moving recognition of Brothers who had entered Omega during the past year. As each name was read, the Chapter’s ceremonial bell rang in tribute. The bell holds special significance in Chapter tradition, sounding three times during a Brother’s journey: at Initiation, at graduation, and upon entering Omega.
Following the ceremony, Brothers and guests from across the country remained at the Chapter house to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the enduring Brotherhood represented by the Bill Dost Memorial Garden.
