BUILDING HEALTHY BROTHERHOOD

A Brotherhood Worth Building

Brotherhood Worth Building is Lambda Chi Alpha’s year-round commitment to creating healthy chapter cultures where every Brother belongs, leaders act with integrity, and members look out for one another. Grounded in the Ideal Man Code, it turns our values into action.

IDEAL MAN IN ACTION

Live the Code. Build Brotherhood.

The Ideal Man Code defines who we aspire to be as Lambda Chi Alpha men. Brotherhood Worth Building shows what those principles look like in practice—in our chapters, our relationships, our traditions, and the choices we make every day.

  1. He stands up for others.
  2. He is steadfast in his pursuit of growth.
  3. He does what is right, event when it is difficult.
  4. He treats every person with dignity.
  5. He pursues knowledge with purpose.
  6. He seeks wisdom.
  7. He governs himself by principle.
  8. He loves his Brothers and his community.

BUILDING HEALTHY BROTHERHOOD

Four Elements of a Brotherhood Worth Building

Belonging & Connection

Create chapter environments where every Brother feels known, valued, respected, and connected.

Health & Wellbeing

Equip Brothers to care for themselves and one another and recognize when someone may need support.

Prevention & Safety

Build a culture that recognizes risk, makes responsible choices, and protects the well-being of every member.

Accountability & Leadership

Set clear expectations, address behavior that falls short of our values, and lead with integrity.

Monthly Themes

Building Brotherhood All Year Long

Brotherhood Worth Building is a year-round commitment. Each month focuses on a theme that helps chapters turn the Ideal Man Code into action, strengthening culture, wellbeing, accountability, safety, and brotherhood throughout the year.

August — Building Expectations
A strong year starts with clarity. What brothers can count on from each other, and what the chapter stands for before the first challenge arrives. This theme is about naming the standard early, so no one has to guess what’s expected.
September — Building Traditions Worth Keeping
Not every tradition deserves to survive, and not every new idea is worth cutting. This theme challenges chapters to hold onto what truly builds brotherhood and let go of what creates an unhealthy culture.
October — Building Safe Celebrations
Brotherhood shows up loudest when chapters are having fun together, and real fun never requires anyone to be at risk. This theme is about celebrating without compromise, so joy and safety are never treated as opposites
November — Building Resilience
Every brotherhood is tested, and the ones that last are the ones that know how to hold each other up. This theme is about strength that comes from connection, not from pretending nothing is hard.
December — Building Brotherhood
Distance doesn’t dissolve brotherhood. The bonds a chapter builds should travel with its members wherever they go. This theme is a reminder that being a brother isn’t confined to campus.
January — Building Accountability
A brotherhood worth having is one where members hold each other to the standard, not just to the rules. This theme is about ownership, the willingness to answer for your actions, and expect the same of everyone around you.
February — Building Financial Responsibility
Taking care of each other includes taking each other seriously about money. The pressures, the habits, and the risks that don’t always get talked about. This theme is about building the kind of maturity that lasts well beyond college.
March — Building Inclusive Brotherhood
A brotherhood is only as strong as its willingness to make room for every member in it. This theme is about ensuring that belonging isn’t conditional, it’s the foundation everything else is built on.
April — Building Trust
Trust is earned in the way brothers treat each other when it matters most, especially those who are vulnerable. This theme centers the responsibility every member carries to protect one another, not just to avoid causing harm.
May — Building Wellbeing
A chapter can’t be strong if its members aren’t well. Wellbeing isn’t separate from brotherhood, it’s what makes brotherhood sustainable. This theme is about checking in, not just showing up.
June — Building Character
Who a brother becomes matters more than any single moment of chapter life. This theme closes the year by returning to the foundation: the character a brotherhood builds isn’t measured in a semester, but in a lifetime.
July — Building Legacy
Every brother inherits a legacy and adds to it. What you build this year becomes what the next class inherits. This theme asks chapters to think beyond the moment: what kind of brotherhood do you want to leave behind?
YOUR ROLE

Everyone Has a Role to Play.

Brotherhood Worth Building takes all of us. Learn how Brothers, families, campus partners, advisors, and alumni can help create a safer, healthier brotherhood.

Collegiate Brothers

Brotherhood Worth Building starts with you. The choices you make in the chapter house, at events, and with new members shape the culture everyone else inherits. Hold yourself and your Brothers accountable, complete your training, and speak up when something doesn’t reflect who Lambda Chi Alpha is meant to be.

Campus Professionals

Fraternity & Sorority Life staff and student conduct professionals are essential partners in building safer, healthier chapters. You see what we can’t from a national level, and we’re stronger when we work together.
LETTER TO CAMPUS PARTNERS

Parents & Families

Your student’s Lambda Chi Alpha experience should never come at the cost of their safety or wellbeing. Families play an important role in reinforcing that expectation and knowing how to recognize and report concerns.
LETTER TO PARENTS

Advisors & Alumni

Advisors and alumni provide the mentorship, oversight, and institutional memory that keep chapters accountable. Stay current on chapter resources and training, show up for the moments that matter, and model the standard you want Brothers to carry forward.
